The Dajjāl and The Signs of The Hour | Abū Ḥakīm Bilāl Davis
During one of his visits to Masjid us Sunnah, our noble brother and teacher Abū Ḥakīm Bilāl Davis conducted a lecture about a reality that awaits us all; the emergence of the Dajjal (anti-christ) and the Day of Judgement. A frightening reminder!
Indeed believing in the Day of Judgement is from the fundamental beliefs of our Religion; one of the Articles of faith. The Muslim has firm belief that Allāh will raise us all from our graves and will judge us all according to our deeds. And prior to the coming of the Final Hour, there are certain events that will occur – we ask Allāh for safety.
In this lecture, Abū Ḥakīm shares some narrations regarding the Dajjāl and the Day of Judgement, causing the listener to deeply reflect. Both the appearance of the Dajjāl and the signs of the Last Day are a frightening reality that we must be well equipped for.
Regarding the Dajjāl, every Prophet and Messenger warned their people concerning him. This alone should serve as a reminder for us. The belief of ahlus-sunnah concerning him is that he will emerge and the people will be put to tribulation by him.
The Prophet (ﷺ) informed us, “There was not a Prophet sent by Allāh except that he warned his people from the Dajjāl the one-eyed liar. Verily, he is one-eyed and your Lord is not one-eyed. And between his eyes is written the word ‘kāfir’.”
As for the signs of the Day of Judgement, our Lord has informed us in His Book that it is indeed very close. Allāh says,
اقْتَرَبَتِ السَّاعَةُ وَانشَقَّ الْقَمَرُ
“The Hour has drawn near, and the moon has been cleft asunder (the people of Makkah requested Prophet Muḥammad to show them a miracle, so he showed them the splitting of the moon).
[Sūrah al-Qamar: 1]
And Allāh says,
اقْتَرَبَ لِلنَّاسِ حِسَابُهُمْ وَهُمْ فِي غَفْلَةٍ مَّعْرِضُونَ
“Draws near for mankind their reckoning, while they turn away in heedlessness.”
[Sūrah al-Anbiyāʾ 21:1]
From the signs of the Day of Judgement:
1. The coming of the Prophet (ﷺ).
2. The death of the Prophet (ﷺ).
3. The conquering of Bait ul-Maqdis.
4. The increase in wealth.
6. The spread of fornication.
7. Increase in killing.
The appearance of some signs of the Day of Judgement should encourage mankind to seek nearness to Allāh and repent to Him. Similarly, the belief in the Day of Judgement should cause the believers to forget about the difficulties of this world, seeking the Hereafter by preoccupying themselves with the performance of righteous actions.
