ʿAbdulillāh Laḥmāmī narrates:
“Shaykh Muḥammad al-Bannā was concerned (about my studies) and he asked me: ‘Who are you sitting with?’
I said: ‘There is a scholar in Madīnah (Shaykh ʿUbayd al-Jābirī) and he teaches the books and the Sunnah, and the ʿUlemāʾ have praised him.’ Shaykh Bin Bāz placed him in charge of the daʿwah centre in Madīnah; he was praised and recommended by the Imām.
I used to give him (Shaykh Muḥammad al-Bannā) CD’s and tapes of Shaykh ʿUbayd. He listened to them and Wallāhi he said to me: ‘This is a good Shaykh, his tapes are very beneficial..’
One day while I was in Mecca, I said to Shaykh ʿUbayd: ‘Let’s go inside gate 94 and visit Shaykh Muḥammad al Bannā, he is always there for every prayer; five times a day, in the Ḥaram.’ During the last part of his life he even moved from Jeddah to Makkah to pray and get 100,000 rewards for each prayer.
Shaykh ʿUbayd is blind so while holding his hand, I said to Shaykh ʿUbayd: ‘This is Shaykh Muḥammad al Bannā.’ And I said to Shaykh Muḥammad: ‘This is Shaykh ʿUbayd.’
Shaykh Muḥammad got up with so much enthusiasm, although he was in his 90’s! He got up and he hugged Shaykh ʿUbayd. And I was on the other side watching the love between the ʿUlemāʾ. Tears came down the eyes of Shaykh Muḥammad due to the love he had for Shaykh ʿUbayd.
The ʿUlemāʾ recognise each other as ʿUlemāʾ! And they recognise each other as those who defend the Religion of Allāh.”
